Hepatitis A spread in South America

In my disease class, I have to do research about how disease spread in the world. I looked at hepatitis A in south America.

Hepatitis A a is virus that attacks south America. Hepatitis A virus usually spreads from person to person. The common ways to get the virus include: household contacts, sexual contacts, attendees at childcare centers, persons sharing illegal drugs, and persons sharing food or beverages. And when a person put something in the mouth that has been contaminated with the stool of a person with hepatitis A. This type of transmission is called the “fecal-oral” route. For this reason, the virus is more easily spread in areas where there are poor sanitary conditions or where good hygiene is not observed such as South America.(Department of health, 2010)

Welcome to the “Freedom of Mind” center

Here is my proposal to rebuild Ground Zero:

  1. it has a lot of space for everyone to play, to think, to congregate…
  2. the plan shows the tower on only one side of “ground zero” and trees around the building;
  3. the trees make the place look beautiful, because it looks green instead of gray;
  4. this shows peace in the world, because it is for everybody; not for a single culture or religion…

RJ's "Ground Zero" Design

You know you arrived at this building, because……
you see one beautiful building surrounded by open air.
You will also see the big playground for  over 2,000 kids to play different games.
We need kids to grow up in a place of freedom.
In the building, you will see offices and clinics.
You will see different signs written in different languages, saying welcome to this place.
You can compare the building to the beautiful Eideard building, that looks like an iceberg.

When you enter this building,
You smell roses
you can touch the walls
you see the beautiful decoration around
You hear no noise, the place is so quiet…
You can taste the air; it feels not too hot, nor too cold…
You remember all the fear and sadness for 9/11,

To walk through this building, you need
To have your I.D and sign in, so we know who you are.
There are computers to check your bags.

Once you reach the center of this building, you may remember how people are suffering in your country. Also, you will see something on the side of the building: the names of the people who died on 9/11/2001; you may put some flowers around. There will be a computer for visitors to leave messages for those who died in 9/11: you can say “I miss you, because…” To write a message, you need a special pen, to write on the computer screen.

When you leave this building, you are transformed, because somebody will remind you again about what happened… But not only for 9/11, think about the future too. Peace is the powerful thing we need, as they say in the Qur’an: “And their Lord responded to them, ‘I certainly don’t overlook the work of any worker among you male or female: You come from one another’” and in the Bible: “And above all things have fervent love for one another for love will cover a multitude of sins”.

Who will do this building, if not you?

RJ’s Speech on South Sudan

  • The purpose of this assignment was to learn and challenge ourselves to see what problems do people have.
  • My favorite part of this project was to learn from my classmates.
  • I chose the theme of South Sudan, because I want to tell people what is bothering me about my country and share my thoughts.
  • I learned  a lot of things from my classmates; it was amazing to me to hear stories from them.

Why should we care about what is going on now in South Sudan?

My country is South Sudan.  In my country, over 1.5 million people have a problem of famine, money and Education.  People are stealing other people’s property…  But no one can rob something easily; they have to kill a person to get away.

Last year, on October 2011, the Murle tribe pretended to be someone else; they dressed in Sudan People Liberation uniform and they told people from Lou-Nuer that they wanted all their weapons.  Lou-Nuer thought they were the real army of South Sudan.  They gave out their weapons to the Murle tribe.  After they had all of the weapons, they started shooting.

1,000 people were killed on that day.

On December 2011 the Luo-Nuer took revenge: they declared they would occupy the Murle towns and disarm the population by force. They claimed that was the only solution to stop the Murle tribe from attacking people.

Now 3,000 people were killed during the Lou-Nuer tribe attacks.

On January 2012, the Murle attacked Duk Padiet, another tribe, killed 47 and injured 22.  Most were Children, old women, old men, disabled people…

When I left my country, it was the same problem that is going on now.  Nothing changed.  This 4 million were displaced.  Do you think these people will come back one day?

How can we help?

If I were the president, I would take the problem seriously, by creating a lot of jobs and schools to keep everybody busy.  So, nobody would be walking around to disturb others and killing.  The best way is to bring peace, unity, economic development.  I should talk with many people to help me and work hard to find peace in the country.

Are you willing to help?
