I chose this piece because, after hearing and seeing the problems other communities have, it made me appreciate the local economy in my neighborhood. The purpose of this piece was to acknowledge a problem in your neighborhood that creates a bad local economy, write a protest letter, and send it to someone who can help, but I realized I have a good local economy; so, I wrote a thank you letter to business owners. I am proud of my community and our healthy environment. I learned that a local environment can create peace within the neighborhood.

Dear Sir or Madam at the Pop-Ins Supermarket,
Please accept this letter as a thank you for all you are doing to help make my community a healthy environment.
I live in the East Garfield Park area, and your local business has had a huge impact on me. Since I was 10 years old, I have been walking to your grocery store to get fresh healthy food. Even when we have bad snow or rain storms, I still have a store within walking distance to get to. So, I would like to thank you for keeping your business local, open, and available with good quality food.
In my Global Peace Class at GCE High School I just learned about Swadeshi and how it means local economy. I learned that having a local economy with locally owned businesses can help create peace in the environment by creating a healthy relationship between the community and businesses in the community. I believe that your business helps generate peace. So I would like to say thank you.
Sincerely,
A Happy Customer
