I chose to represent the Sufi dance in a poem, highlighting some of the elements of their rhythm. The elements that I chose were circulating, culture/religion and beat. First, the word “Circulating” represents the whole Sufi dance as circular, and if the dancers were wearing their costumes, they would look like a tornado. I chose religion/culture as another of my elements, because the meaning of this dancing deals with culture and religion; I also talked about it, because I wanted to make a connection between me and them. Last of all, I chose the Sufi rhythm, because I liked the beat so much: I am trying to represent it with these symbols _U U.

One of my goals in this class was to organize ideas, and in this poem I think I organized my ideas.

Here is My Poem and I hope you will like it,

Sufi dance is a cultural/religious ritual
Turkish culture is a little different from mine.
They dance as they are talking to
God.
This doesn’t mean that they only pray this way, NO!
they also pray the way I and the other Muslims do.
