I wrote this paragraph because in our Spanish class we are studying cultures, along with cultural relativism. Every culture is different and while one act might be disrespectful to one group of people, it could be completely normal somewhere else. It’s important to study this in order to become a more united people.
Culture is the human thumbprint on planet Earth. People have natural tendencies to want to stick with what they’re familiar with, so finding easily identifiable characteristics of others that you agree with was natural and that tendency turned into the sprouting of hundreds of cultures. Weather it’s from believing in a certain god or afterlife, to what you cherish most as a family, to how you act, culture umbrellas all of these variables and helps define who we are as people. My question is why can’t people understand that if they want their culture to be respected, that they have to respect others?
