WORLD POPULATION IN MILLIONS
Total Population in Millions : 6139 Million people in 2001.
857 million hungry in 2001
13.9% of the world was hungry in 2001.
6.8 billion people in 2009
1020 million hungry in 2009
15% of the world was hungry in 2009
Subtract 13.9 from 15
Answer : The percentage of world hunger increased 1.1% from 2001 to 2009. This huge spike in the data I believe correlates to the economic collapse of 2008 which put many families out of work, and also unable to help others in need.
