My Kautiliya project was about using past and present speeches, poems, and quotes to try to write poems about women empowerment — and teaching a class through three activities about the power of words and the way they influence and inspire women. I am proud of the poem me and my partner created. The poem was inspired by a book we read, Deadlock by Sara Paretsky, and the character Vic Washarkshi, who never took no for an answer and proved that she was not weaker because she was a woman but more powerful. I appreciated a lot of the feedback I got, for example: studying women who work in other fields and how they empower themselves was something that can improve my work. It was an awesome class and I can’t wait for the next project on my mission.
