For our second Project as Action in Design + Engineering, we were given the opportunity to build solar water heaters because we were studying the force of solar and how it is useful. It explored how we can use such simple materials like aluminum foil and cardboard boxes to conduct heat and let water boil as well as the pros of using other forces such as solar energy.
There were a couple details we didn’t account for, like evaporation and water leaking out of the tubing but overall, the panel worked fairly well and was fun to experiment with and use.
I’m really happy with the work we did as a group together to create this. I learned how to use really simple, common materials to make a solar panel as well as the many benefits of looking to outside sources for energy.
