For the first action project in the Urban Planning class we had to build at least two-foot long and at least six-inches wide bridge. After studying designs of trusses and bridges in Chicago, we designed and built models of our own bridges to express our understandings from what we learned. It was a complicated assignment but we learned that failure is the key to a new idea and I also learned that failure brings success in our lives. We revised our ideas of how to build the bridge at least 4 times but we finally succeed. The bridge we created out-stood 18 pounds before collapsing. Below are our blueprints, calculations, and a video of the bridge being tested.
