For my student enterprise course, I have been crafting a business plan for the past nine weeks. Each student has created their own business that aligns with at least one of the UN’s Millennium Development Goals (MDG). My business is called Mind and Body. This business is aligned with the UN’s MDG of eradicating disease. I am targeting depression and obesity by opening a therapeutic fitness gym. This will be a place where people can work with a team that consists of a psychiatrist, nutritionist, and personal trainer. This will allow them to get healthy both mentally and physically. This program will focus on educating people on healthy living and empower them to take the steps to live a healthy life.

Unedited Business Plan:
Recycle Sports: For the Student Enterprise Course, we created a business plan aligned with the Millenium Development Goals. I have always been very passionate about sports, so I wanted to create a business that helped kids get more involved in athletics. My business is like Netflix with sports equipment. You go to our website, and pick what equipment you need to rent for your athletic season. Once your finished with it, you can either send it back to us or buy it for a discounted price.

For the Student Enterprise course, we created a business plan aligned with the Millennium Development Goals. Creating a business plan helped me understand more about how the businesses work and how to start the business. I created Green Farm For All, which is a profit business because we had farm in Burma. So I have experiences about how the farm worked.

For the Student Enterprise course, we created a business plan aligned with the Millenium Development Goals. We learned how the business world works and what you need in order to start a successful business. By watching shark tank and talking to many entrepreneurs; we established our own plans.
I thought about what I really love to do, and what I could see myself doing when I’m an adult. I really love photography and journalism so I decided that I wanted my business to be centered around that. I will be creating an online website where I could share stories and photographs from people all around the world, and then sell their photos to interested buyers. That way I could give back to people who sent me their stories, and educate people who had no idea of the problems going on in certain places around the world.

For the Student Enterprise course, we created a business plan aligned with the Millennium Development Goals. We did this by trying to find our niche in how we could tackle one of these goals, while making a company about something we enjoy doing. I created a non-profit after school program to fulfill the goal of universal education. My company’s vision is by providing a global standard for after school education, empowering kids by allowing them to teach and learn through a variety of outlets.

We went to the SandBox company for our student Enterprise course to learn about their business and employers. SandBox company is creating, investing in and exploring new businesses. The founder of the company , Nick Senior talked about his business experiences and how he endured the challenges of his business. I learned a lesson from Nick. Whatever you are going to do, choose what you love to do and what you are passionate about. After he did the introduction of his company, we presented our business plan to get more good ideas from SandBox employers. I could improve on my presentation by being more clearer. In my business plan, Nick Junior, son of Nick Senior, suggested more companies from other countries that will help me. Having connection with customers is also good for my business including poor people.

For a field experience, our Student Enterprise class went to Sandbox Industries. Sandbox Industries is a foundry that supports start-up businesses. The purpose of our visit was to gain experience by presenting the progress we’ve made on our individual business plans. During the presentations, we discussed the key points of our business: why we created it, what the plan is, and how the business will function. Here is the SlideRocket presentation I used to explain my business, Catalyst Outreach:
From this field experience, I learned a lot from the Q & A with Sandbox Industries employees, including Nick Rosa. We heard helpful advice about work ethic: you should love what you do, don’t go to work only to leave. I thought this advice connected well with our businesses because they are aligned with the Millennium Development goals, so our motivation comes from impacting the world.
After I finished my presentation, I considered what I can do in the future to improve my business plan. Regarding the presentation itself, I can work on communicating my mission in a way that creates an impact in a short time. My business plan will improve when I think of responses to tackle “killer” questions (questions that will signal a significant problem with your plan if you can’t answer it). I also need to think about how I can improve perceived barriers. As I revise my business plan, I’ll be thinking about it from the side of the client. This field experience provided us with memorable advice to finish the year strong.
